Record Suspensions (Pardon)

A Record Suspension (formerly known as a pardon) allows individuals with a past conviction to have their record set aside — meaning it won't appear on most background checks for employment, housing, volunteering, or licensing. It’s your opportunity for a clean slate and peace of mind.

Who’s Eligible?

• All parts of your sentence (jail, fines, probation, etc.) must be completed
• Wait at least 5 years for summary offences or 10 years for indictable offences
• You must have stayed out of trouble since completing your sentence
• Some convictions (e.g. sexual offences involving minors or multiple indictable offences) are ineligible
